Returning to work: How you can help to stop the spread of COVID-19 at the office

As local businesses begin to talk about reopening, what does that mean for you as an employee when you return to work? How can you stay cautious and aware as you resume everyday life? Here are a few tips to consider.

Practice good hygiene.
Practicing good hygiene both at home and in public remains your first line of defense against COVID-19 (coronavirus) and any other germs you may come in contact with. Continue to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water, especially after coming in contact with another person and before coming in contact with food. Frequently launder the clothes that you wear to work, being mindful of where you put them when you take them off at home when your day is done. Additionally, closely monitor your own health and recognize when working from home or visiting a doctor are necessary.

Clean your space.
Take the cleaning and disinfecting processes you’ve been executing at home with you to work. Continue to focus on high-touch areas by frequently disinfecting the surfaces and items in your workspace. Electronics, staplers, pens and other office supplies should be treated the same as your home’s high-traffic points. Try to tidy up your personal area daily, and be mindful of stray pieces of trash, papers or dust that rest in your personal area – because germs can hide anywhere.

Wear personal protective equipment.
Using the proper personal protective equipment, more commonly referred to now as PPE, to work is another great preventative measure to take to protect yourself and those around you. Take a look at one of our team members conducting disinfection services while donning PPE. Masks, gloves and other protective items that make you feel comfortable can be worn to reduce the spread of germs and provide peace of mind.

Social distance.
Although it might be tempting to completely revert to “business as usual,” it’s crucial that you maintain an appropriate distance from others at the office until experts lift this recommendation. Stay six feet or more away from coworkers and avoid groups of ten or more people.

We all have a role to play in stopping the spread of COVID-19. You can implement the tips above into your daily life and ServiceMaster TBS Division will handle the rest.
